A Unique BAU Town

The Buddhist Temple is right in the middle of Bau Town, along the busy traffic and part of the town that is congested by the local folks. The temple has become the ‘roundabout’ for the motorists as they have to circle the temple in order to reach their destination. The Buddhists have to pray in public as there is no privacy at all. I hope none of them pray in their car along the roadside.

The chanting prayer is played all days and nights on a recorded device. I guess most of the town folks staying nearby might have memorized the chanting, even for those who are not Buddhist. Not forgotten those who are drunk in the nearby kopi-tiam.

During weekdays at the evening, Bau Street seemed extremely quiet. Dead Town they called it. Wait till you are here on weekend. Bau Town is all packed up with people heading to and coming back from the Grand Bazaar at Serikin. There are tourists all the way from Kelantan to Johor heading to Serikin, buying goods that are also available at their own backyard. I guess they wanted the thrill of getting the experience of being at the border of Malaysia and Indonesia. Let us bless our neighbor, Indonesia with more prosperity.
