A Model in the Making

The kid had become addicted to photo shooting. He can’t help himself when he saw the sight of a camera. He has this instant response to it. The moment you lifted it up, the posing will begin. Maybe he had been abused by the father who loved to take photo and often made him the ‘model’ for his shots. Then again, maybe it is not a bad idea after all. We are having a future ‘model’ in the making.

Karaoke Competition at School

The emcee officiates the karaoke competition. He then introduces the line of volunteered participants and another line of forced participants. Before proceeding with the competition, he first explains on the criteria taken into consideration for the evaluations.

One of the judges shows his talent and how the participants should perform on stage. Then, he got overexcited and refused to go down. We have to drag him down from the stage. He had proved himself an excellent singer. Therefore, he is more than qualified to judge the competition.

All of the participants are girls. Boys do not sing, not immediately after their puberty. They will only start singing after having dozens of kids and divorcing their fourth wives.

The three judges seemed extremely focused in their evaluation. The first judge is busy calculating his next month expenses and the other one is busy drafting on the landscape of his backyard. The third judge is still dreaming of his dream to be in the limelight. They are actually expected to judge on the vocal, pronunciation and showmanship of the participants as the evaluations are more on the participants' competency of the language. The competition is actually organized by the school’s English Department as its annual activity, not so much on the students' singing talent and ability. Hopefully, none of the participants had not waste their time and money in attending singing class at Yamaha Music School.

The girl won the competition, though she had actually made up her decision to participate in the competition at the last minute. She felt that her heart will go on with the sunken Titanic, if she did not join the competition (adapted from Celine Dion). She was loved by the judges but hated by the fellow participants.

In conclusion, the competition had received encouraging support from the students. Most of the male friends got hysterical and have to be sent back to class to be taught on morality. Well Done, Buddies!

Nostalgic 'Kolok Mee'

The ‘Kolok Mee’ is introduced to me by my father. He loved it so much, that often we would stop there for lunch after school. Back then, my father could not afford to treat me and my siblings to 'KFC'. Hence, the 'Kolok Mee' has become our only favorite food. Then again, it is not so much about the noodle. Maybe more on the nostalgia of time spent with my father during my school days.

You all should try it for yourself. The noodle is served in a plate, not a bowl. It looks more luxurious in such a way. The quantity of the noodle is not so much compare to any other typical stalls selling ‘Kolok Mee’. For me, a food should not be served too much in order to enjoy the actual taste of it. The quality of the taste is more important than the quantity of it.

The shop is located somewhere at the old town of Kota Sentosa aka 'Batu 7'. It is called Nam Hoi Restaurant. I promised that you won't regret it. If you do, why bother as you will only spend RM2.50 for the 'Kolok Mee'.

The Best Laksa in Kuching

The laksa can be enjoyed at the Golden Arch CafĂ©, which is located at the Golden Arch Commercial Center. Most of the food bloggers who had made reviews on laksa in Kuching recommended the laksa. So, why bother to look for some other laksa in Kuching. If you want to do business and open another franchise, try ask the towkay. I’m pretty sure you’ll be served super duper extra hot laksa with unknown extra ingredients in it.

They normally served the thick spicy soup with options of small, medium and big prawns. I recommend you opt for the medium prawn. The medium prawns’ option is less RM1 than the big prawns. You can use the extra RM1 as extra money to buy big prawns at the nearby ‘Batu 3’ wet market.

Anyway, the place is often packed full of people in the morning and their laksa often sold out in the afternoon. Meanings~ it is extremely yummy!

KRS Marching Competition

The uniforms of the cadets are checked as part of the main evaluation in the competition. They need to have uniformed clothes with the standard accessories as part of the evaluation. Furthermore, we do not want them to look like a bunch of amateur terrorists.

They are ready to march and show what they are capable of. They should win the competition and prove to their superior, Major Samjun and Lieutenant Soraya that they are ready to face anybody. They deserved to win as they have been training so hard for it.

Their marching presentation is going smooth. They knew that they will win as everythings were going smooth. Even the stamps of their feet are louder than others. Why shouldn’t they be? They wore new boots bought by Major Samjun.

As expected, they won the competition. The platoon commander himself was awarded as the best commander. Such a glorious victory. Hail Hitler!

They all celebrate their victory. All of them are proud and happy. Some of them ask for treat at 'KFC', some at 'SCR'. In the end, their superiors are at the losing side as they might lose part of their hard earned salary for the platoon. KRS~ Tepuk Tepuk Gorila!

How to Quit Smoking?

I had been smoking for many years. I started smoking my first cigarette at the age of 17. Meaning~ more than 20 years (cannot mentioned the actual figure, otherwise you all know my actual age).

I wonder why so many people undergone lots of trouble just to quit smoking. Nowadays, there are pills like ‘NiQuitin’ to help smokers quit smoking. I wonder how it works. It is said that it used nicotine as substitute to the nicotine that you have to smoke on the cigarette. Won’t it be like you are still smoking as you are still consuming the chemical, though you are no more smoking it?

My way, I gave up smoking when I’m sick. When you have fever and coughed heavily, it is a sign that your body had enough of the toxic. Quit immediately, as you can’t even smell the smoke on that particular time.

I quitted many times before, but I started back few months later. Now, I have quitted for almost two months, right after coughing continuously for almost a month. I'm determined to quit for good now, for the sake of cleaner earth and unpolluted air.

For fella smokers, you can also do it!

Typical Dayak's Funeral Ceremony

The photo shown is in the memory of the late Ngirew ak Rawe on her last day recorded alive. She was declared dead few hours after the photo taken. At least she managed to slurp on her last milk before her death.

The funeral ceremony is held at the Anglican Church of Kampung Patung, Padawan. It is raining on that day. I'm curious why it is often rain when dead people are going to be buried. According to an anonymous source, he said that it shows that the spirit of the dead would be sent to heaven. I wish that when it is my turn, I want it to rain heavily so that I would be sent immediately to heaven before my grave is flooded by the rain.

The coffin is laid down inside the hole, while others pay their last respect by throwing the soil onto the coffin. Typical ritual among the Christian. May God bless her soul.

Later, the grave is filled back with the soil. The grave diggers seemed so eager to finish their work as it is still raining. Anyway, it had been a hard day work for all of them. Not forgotten that the day is a day for 'special draw on TOTO'. They should be hurry before it's closed and maybe can try on the birthday numbers.

The family members take some photos beside the grave. The elderly looked so sad but the young one posed as if they are posing for a casual family photo. Condolence to the dearest, Sumbuk!
